Sonia Mambru is a renowned professional sought after licensed hair beautician, stylist, and natural hair consultant in the D.C. Metro area.  Sonia is the owner of SONIA Dominican Hair Salon, LLC located in Woodbridge, Virginia.  She is a native of the Dominican Republic with a strong passion for natural hair care, hair rejuvenation, hair restoration, and holistic therapy for mind and body. Sonia’s personal ideology and concentration is based on trichology, which is the study of hair and scalp for natural treatment, and care.  Sonia has over 31 years in the cosmetology arena, treating hair for loss prevention, burn out, and damage for environmental exposures.

Sonia Mambru is also a professional business model associate of the world renowned bilingual Urban Magazine, and professional guidance company Mighty Magazine of Washington D.C. where she is featured for her beauty modeling, mentorship for aspiring business professionals, unique hair salon practices, and holistic hair health techniques. She promotes natural hair growth stimulation and provides consultation to those who suffer from genetic hair loss conditions, scalp infection, menopause, Traction Alopecia, radiation, hormonal disorders, and fungal infections. Sonia is an advocate for mind, body, and spirit restoration. She practiced as a Certified Reiki Master servicing the DC Metro area for over 28 years practicing internal energy, mind, and body healing. The experience and challenges in her life have shown her how to accomplish anything she puts her mind to in this existence. She is appreciated by women from around the world and sought after locally for her astounding techniques of self-care and self-improvement. Sonia remains active in her wellbeing and has set the bar in holistic beauty and spiritual abundance.

Sonia’s love and passion for natural hair care in women of African descent stems from her childhood in the beautiful country of the Dominican Republic. Sonia had visions as a young girl to help little girls, adolescent girls, young ladies, and older women to embrace their beauty of coarse hair /curly hair challenges. After experiencing the shame of wearing a natural Afro, and the burn and damage of the “hot comb” she was inspired with a passion for beauty in women of color, teaching black women to appreciate the natural state of their own hair, and love and treatment for their hair.  She had a vision as a young girl to start her business believing that all women have unique beauty.  She saw other little girls with silky hair and wanted her hair to look like other girls, but her grandmother discouraged that look combing her hair back using a straightening “hot” comb into a high bun. Sonia thought in her mind that “The art of the natural state of the Afro is Beauty and I will wear my hair out in a soft Afro.” Sonia then created her own hair butter using natural plants and oils local to the land of the Dominican Republic, making her hair soft and manageable without burning her natural hair.  She also created her own plant-based product to naturally dye the hair without harsh chemicals.  Sonia’s family, friends, and school mates were astounded with the results as her hair growing long, strong, shiny, healthy, flowing, soft, and beautiful just like she imaged.

Today Sonia’s passion and motivation is to assist her clients to learn the nature of their hair to include determining the porosity, identifying A,B,C, hair types,  administering proper products, natural methods, and maintaining healthy hair upkeep.  Sonia's hair salon title’s acronym are her name and mission that she departs to each client to elevate mind, body, and soul:

“I” is for Inspiring.  Sonia inspires all who she comes in contact with in her salon, her family, and community. She creates innovative solutions to care for your hair. Her hair health and styling techniques are your unique and her beauty shop is a platform to provide insightful advice that applies to your mind, body, and spirit being.

“A” is for Accomplished.  Sonia’s life has been adventurous, and admirable. The experience and challenges in her life have shown her how to accomplish anything she puts her mind to in this life. She is appreciated by women from around the world. Sonia remains active in her wellbeing and has set the bar in holistic beauty and spiritual abundance.

Sonia’s key specialty in hair care, treatment and styling is the Dominican Blow-Out which her technique and treatment prevents hair damage, and burnout.  Her specialized technique protects the hair shaft, treats the scalp, and stimulates growth, promoting long, strong, healthy hair with a luminous glow and shine distinctive to her personalized touch. Sonia’s special technique revitalizes all hair types allowing the woman to feel natural beauty in unique form, elevating young girls to “silver seasoned seniors” as well.
